all forms of civil and criminal litigation, including Common Law, Family Law, Commercial
Law and general legal requirements - such as Companies, Trusts, Wills, Grants of Probate,
Leases and Conveyancing.

F.L.A. Partners handle Federal Court
and Supreme Court cases, commercial disputes and all kinds of debt
recovery actions.
Examples of some
cases of interest in recent years include:
-
F.L.A. Partners represented
the majority of claimants in their successful law action brought against United
Airlines. This arose out of the Australia-bound flight out of Hawaii where a cargo
door ripped away from the fuselage.
-
F.L.A. Partners have
represented claimants against the Public Transport Corporation arising from the
derailment of the West Coast Express at Werribee, Victoria.
-
F.L.A. Partners defended one
of the Accused on major counterfeit charges relating to American Express
travellers cheques. This type of criminal case is an example of "white
collar" crime that the firm prefers to handle, particularly its Principal and
Founder, Peter Finkelstein.

As the senior practitioner and founder of
F.L.A. Partners, with 40 years' experience behind him, Peter Finkelstein has from
inception led the firm through significant changes over the years. The most striking has
been the readiness of the firm, mainly through him, to handle their own Court appearances.
In particular, Peter Finkelstein appears as Counsel in all Courts and jurisdictions;
including civil and criminal jury trials.
This means that the firm is quite unique in being able to
offer "one stop shopping" for all legal work required in any case. By dealing
with the same lawyer who sees you at the first interview, right through the final verdict
(or Judgment), there is continuity for the client. Unlike other law firms, F.L.A.
Partners therefore do not need to "brief out" the case to a member of
the Bar, or some other lawyer. This is so unusual that there are only about ten or so law
firms in Melbourne apart from F.L.A. Partners, that are able to offer
this service.
Peter Finkelstein is qualified to appear as Counsel in the
States of Western Australia as well as Victoria, and in the High Court of Australia as
well as all Federal Courts - including the Family Court of Australia and
the Federal Magistrate's Court.

the Principal, Peter Finkelstein, personally include:
- Appointment by the Governor-General of Australia as
Deputy Chairman
of the Royal Australian Air Force Veterans Residences Trust, operating
under a Federal Act of Parliament of the same name.
- Member of the Board of the Royal Australian Air Force
Association (Victoria Division) and as the Associations Honorary
Legal Officer.
- Former member of the Air Force Reserve Melbourne Legal Panel
with rank of Squadron Leader; with the Reserve Forces Decoration (R.F.D.) and three bars
in recognition of senior service to the Reserve, now practising
military law privately.
